People have started adopting the Mediterranean Diet, a healthy way of eating that follows the basic elements of the way people eat in the Mediterranean countries. More than a diet, the Mediterranean Diet is a nutritional model that includes dietary patterns from Greece, Italy, and other such countries.
And what can you eat when you follow this diet? Some of the most basic building blocks of many Mediterranean diet recipes include fruits, veggies, cereals, bread, rice, and other things from the earth. Wheat is a staple in the Mediterranean Diet, as grain is imperative in any healthy diet. In addition, red wine and olive oil are important staples in such a nutritional model, as are different kinds of fish.
It wasn't until the early 1990s that people started taking notice of this diet, even though it was introduced in the mid 1940s. The reason is because it's now well-known that people who live in that part of the world don't suffer nearly as much from high cholesterol levels. There's another compelling reason why people have to come love the many Mediterranean diet recipes. It's rumored that the diet has properties that help the body fight cancer, too.
Is the Mediterranean Diet right for you? Is it time for you to jump on the bandwagon? Whether or not this is the best one for you remains to be seen; it's just another way of eating. There is no question about the fact that this is a healthier way of eating, but green vegetables, calcium, and other essential vitamins and minerals are found in the same foods that are involved in many of the basic Mediterranean diet recipes.
