Initially, the treatment is started with the dose of 25 mg, which can further be increased or decreased observing the performance and the side effects of the pill. Normally it may be taken anytime from 30 minutes to 4 hours before the actual stroke. Generally, it is advised that person above 65 years of age should be more cautious using this pill.

However, in the healthy persons the dose can be increased to 50 mg or to 100 mg pill per day watching the effectiveness of the pill. The most common side effects of this drug are headache, flushing, dyspepsia, congestion, blurry vision, dizziness, and loose motions. Studies in USA showed that between 15 to 30 percent men complain of these side effects after consuming the larger amount of viagra. Between 10 to 15 percent men complained of dizziness and upset stomach after the intake of prescribed dosage. Changes in eye vision were experienced by about 10 percent of men using viagra in proper dosage. Priapism or prolonged erection is the most severe side effect that might occur in some cases.

Immediate medical consideration becomes mandatory if erection stays for more than 4 hours. This pill is strictly prohibited for those who are taking nitrate or any other form of this drug. It should be kept out of the reach of children and must be kept in cool and moist free place.
