Processor cooler

Average computer has the cheapest made in China?cooler. It costs 7-8 dollars. You can change your processor cooler. The common disadvantages of all models are heavy weight, almost a kilogram, a huge size, up to fourteen centimeters, and, surely, difficulty with installation. Video adapter

We can't offer good and available solution for powerful video accelerators. But for video adapters of medium power (such as GF6600, 800 or less powerful) we can recommend you to install a Zalman cooler or inactive cooler ZM80D-HP, which is preferable.

Power box.

There are only two ways here. You may buy a ready-made, fanless one. It costs 100-150 dollars. The best models are FSP and Zalman.

Cabinet fans

By our opinion a good computer must have at least two cabinet fans. The first one must be settled at the bottom of the front part of the cabinet, opposite the hard disks; the second fan should be placed above, near the processor. In order to reduce noise of these fans you have to buy only well-known brands. Forget about cheap nonames?

You should also choose the right cabinet. It's impossible to make a good silent computer of Chinese can which costs 30 dollars. Recommended brands of cabinets are Asus and InWin, and further on the roll. Moderately priced and quite respectable models cost near 50-60 dollars.

Silencing a hard drive

Firstly, you can buy a new low-noise hard disk. Recommended manufacturers are Seagate and Samsung. You may also choose a laptop hard disk: it has lower speed but it's really noiseless. Secondly, you can update the fittings of the hard disk. You should isolate hard disk chassis from the computer cabinet to prevent vibration transfer. You may buy Zalman ZM-2HC2 gimmickry. The third way is the most successful. You can create a special noise absorbing and sealed box. The main difficulty of this construction consists in heat rejection from hard disk.

Fanless computer

Professional and skilled modders can make fanless computers. There are no coolers at all in their cabinets. Even hard drives are placed into noise-abatement cover with cooling. Water cooling systems are not used in these computers, because they are not safe enough. The problem of heat removal is solved by the use of heatpipes and passive cooling constructions.
