A New Philosophy
Hold on before you decide not to continue reading this article. You are not being required to answer the questions asked. The concept of questions, and answers as well, can never be fully stringently defined, after all. What qualifies a statement to be either a question or answer cannot be absolutely and universally discerned. There are rhetorical questions whose supposed answers come more as assumptions or inferences more than real answers. On the other hand, answers can also be taken or be in the form of questions or queries.
When a person asks something to someone but the expected respondent does not give an answer, can we say that a question indeed was posted? Do questions necessarily need answers to be called questions? Should answers always come after questions? Again, don't be bothered by the questions. Not that your answer is most probably incorrect but the correctness or incorrectness of your would-be answers will not make any difference. Every rational thought has the power to make a difference no matter how big or small it may be. But how can we say that a thought made by anyone is a rational thought?
You may already be confused and even irritated by the seemingly never-ending questions popping up as this article progresses. The questions posted here do not necessarily demand answers. But if you're in the mood to give answers, you have all the liberty to do so. The questions here serve the purpose of showing you how inquisitive the mind can get. How we, as humans, and our minds can be so dynamic and functional. The questions are here to give you a taste of how exciting the unfathomable world of Philosophy is.
Many people out there, you probably included, view Philosophy as a boring and pure dorky stuff. Many people hold this unfavorable view toward Philosophy for different reasons. Some find Philosophy as purely a subject for people who just want to project an image of intellectualism and depth. Others find Philosophy as a waste of time since no definite answers can be arrived at for the millions of questions it asks. There are also those who think that spending time for Philosophy is very impractical for doing so will not put them in a better financial status; that philosophizing will not feed the hungry stomach nor can it save lives in danger.
For most college students, Philosophy is regarded as one, if not the most, boring course. Sitting inside a four-walled, air-conditioned classroom for an hour or two studying Plato, Hobbes, Kant, Kierkegaard, and many others is, for many students, a daunting and haunting academic requirement empty of any practical use for their lives after college. I must concede, I had the same attitude back in college. I had my share of boring hours spent tiring my mind answering questions that were not at all related to my intended career.
But nowadays, college students are very much lucky that studying Philosophy dos not need classroom confinement anymore. Studying the concepts of ethics, phenomenology, pragmatism, deontology, consequentialism, ontology, empiricism and a lot more is made so much more convenient through the principle of distance learning or online education. Through online philosophy courses, students these days need not stay for hours in cold walled classrooms. Teachings of traditional and radical philosophers need not be heard from humdrum, lethargic voices of aging professors anymore. Through online education, the study of Philosophy is made more fun and exciting through the use of modern teaching media such as video streaming, interactive modules, and computer-aided teaching materials. Also, online education makes it possible for students to study their Philosophy lessons at their homes, right at the very comfort of the place where they find studying Des Cartes' radical skepticism most conjunctive.
Actually, it is not just individual Philosophy subjects that can be obtained through online education. A Philosophy degree through college course online or even Masteral and Doctorate degrees can also be obtained. For example, a high school graduate can enroll on the BA Philosophy program of the University of Illinois through the its online program. Other notable institutions offering online Philosophy degree are the Phoenix Online University and Eastern Oregon University.
